I tutor students once a week. The subject is irrelevant. These are young adults, not children. I have one client that does nothing that I suggest that they do then they continue to fail exams and “don’t understand why“ I explained it very clear to them that it was because they were not doing the things that I shared with them. I have suggested multiple times that they should seek another tutor. Each time explaining why I did not wish to continue the relationship. Each time three times actually I was told that they would do the work. After today when they again had not, I told the client I did not wish to continue our collaboration and they would have to find another tutor. Again, we do not have contracts so it is a weekly service. It was very hard to come to this decision, but the frustration that I was feeling over this student, who was paying me money by the way, refusing to do anything I suggested to help improve their situation in the class. That frustration through my own fault was carrying over and into subsequent sessions, which made me also feel as if I was not helping my other clients as I should. I did refund one session to the client when the session ended. AITAH?
