I (15f) and my brother (16m) live in the same house with my parents. Me and him are both in high school.
Because we both are in high school we still live with our parents and our rooms are right next to each other downstairs on the 2nd floor (my house has four floors) and the first floor is our basement and our walls aren’t exactly the thickest so I can smell his axe body spray and his old musty socks from under his bed all the time

So I can obviously smell it one thing that I always ask for for birthdays Christmas etc is candles. I love candles so much. I have a square bedroom. My bed is in the corner next to a shelf that I keep candles on my bed is also wipe on my window so sometimes I will keep a candle on the window, and when I blow it out, I will open up the window and blow the candle My parents are renting the house so by the law we have to have a fire detector in every room. I have a fire detector in mine so I open the window so the fire detector doesn’t go off my neighbour once saw smoke coming out of my window. She thought that I was smoking or vaping and instantly called my parents on Facebook and told them that I was smoking/vaping out of my window. I would never, and I was not smoking or vaping.

When my parents got home from work, they instantly started shouting at me because they thought I was smoking and vaping outside of my window. I tried to explain to them that it was just a candle my parents got extremely mad at me took my phone away for two weeks and made me clean a bunch . Eventually My mom understood, but my dad was still a bit edgy about it. So I asked my parents if I could put up a fence around the edge of our house and they said sure I got on my mom’s computer. I emailed the landlord and I asked if I could they said go ahead so I did she asked me once when I was walking home from school with my brother why we put up the fence and asked if we were getting an animal I said no it’s because you told my parents that I was vaping outside of my window because you saw a little bit of smoke by the side of our house and I got in trouble. She instantly screamed at me and said I had no right to put one up and said that she would call the landlord and get me kicked out. AITAH

Context* our houses are next to each other. My window is facing the front of the house and the window. She saw it was out of the side of her house so she couldn’t see inside of my house. There were also a lot of issues in my school about vaping and people bringing their vapes to school, so it was kind of believable. I also have friends that vape so I could’ve gotten it from one of them in my parents eyes. Also, I got a professionally done and this was about four months ago. It was done about three months ago. It took about a month to get people to come and do it and it to be fully finished.
