I work in a very small restaurant, with a super close team. One coworker and I ended up clicking right away and became pretty close friends, we’ll call her Sam. She and another coworker began a relationship and it was pretty serious, we’ll call him Chris. Another girl was hired we’ll call her Michelle. Michelle is a huge flirt with every single guy regardless of their relationship status, even though she’s married too. Michelle started heavily flirting with Chris in front of Sam which caused a lot of tension within the staff. Sam ended up getting another serving job and we kind of stopped talking as much but I still consider her a friend. Slowly Michelle started flirting harder with Chris, me and other coworkers would constantly bring up Sam around them both. Asking Chris how Sam is doing, how’s things going and he even mentioned her moving in so it seemed like things were good. So what we all found super surprising is that he never shut Michelle down even though he just had Sam move in. It kept getting worse, and mind you the restaurant we work in is super small. I find out the Michelle is going through a divorce, so she’s trying to like ruin a relationship for a rebound? Michelle would be standing so close to chris like literally with her pelvis pressed against his leg, looking up at him, messing with his hair all googly eyes at him. They would hide all huddled together in corners, or have really long hugs with their bodies pressed into each other. One night I needed something by where they were standing, which is a small under the stairs space for the servers. There were a few chairs off to the side. As I was walking up it looked as if Michelle had her hand resting on Chris’s junk, and like we all know what an over the pants holding junk looks like. I was busy and was like ew I’ll take a mental note of that. And as I asked Michelle to move aside so I could grab what I needed, when I stood back up Chris had sat in one of the chairs and Michelle was sitting on his lap. So at that point I decided enough was enough, not only are they having an open affair in front of an entire staff that knows Chris’s girlfriend but no one is saying anything. So I texted Sam asking if she would have some free time to talk. We talked and of course Sam doesn’t believe that Chris would cheat on her but the evidence is damning. After her and I talked, about two weeks later Chris randomly quits, says he got another job, but it was very out of the blue considering he had been picking up more shifts, even was trained to management but then randomly quits after me and Sam talk. Michelle and I never had bad blood, we were always cool even when I saw how she was being with Chris. After he leaves I find out that Sam broke up with him and has moved out. So now it seems like Sam probably told Chris her and I talked and then Chris told Michelle and now there’s this weirdness between us. Like she won’t look at me, won’t talk to me unless she has to, basically pretends I don’t exist. And part of me doesn’t care but also I do? Like I’m the one out here ruining peoples relationships, everyone who works with them had called them out and they brushed it off like we were the delusional ones. Why am I feeling like the asshole for telling my friend she was being cheated on.
