My grandmother left me her engagement ring when she passed. It’s a beautiful vintage ring, and I’ve always cherished it. She and I were very close, and she specifically said she wanted me to have it.

My older brother is planning to propose to his girlfriend, and he asked if he could have the ring to use for the engagement. I was caught off guard and told him no—it’s one of the only things I have left of my grandma, and it means a lot to me. He got frustrated and said it’s “selfish” for me to keep it when it could become a family heirloom through his marriage. My parents agree with him and keep telling me I don’t “need” the ring since I’m not engaged and might never use it.

Now my whole family is pressuring me, saying I’m being stubborn and ruining a special moment for him. But I feel like I shouldn’t have to give up something that was left specifically to me. AITAH?
