📝 AITAH for refusing to leave a wedding early because my dog was the "center of attention"?

So here’s what happened. My dog Shadow is a small black Shih Tzu. She’s super cute and always wears a little bow on her head. She’s really sweet, quiet, and loves people — everyone always stops to look at her because she’s just that adorable.

Last weekend, my cousin got married. The wedding was small and held in a garden. Since Shadow is my emotional support dog (and I have the papers to prove it), I asked the couple before the wedding if it was okay to bring her. They said yes, as long as she stayed quiet and didn’t cause any problems. Totally reasonable.

Shadow behaved perfectly. She sat on my lap the whole time, didn’t bark or make a fuss, and even had a little flower bow to match the wedding theme. People kept coming over to say how cute she was. The photographer even snapped a few pictures of her. Some guests were laughing and joking that Shadow was “stealing the spotlight.”

But... the bride didn’t think it was funny.

Later at the reception, the bride came up to me and asked if I could take Shadow home because “everyone is paying more attention to her than to me.” I thought she was joking, but she was totally serious and looked upset.

I told her I’d stay in my seat and keep Shadow under the table, and that she wasn’t bothering anyone. But the bride kept asking me to leave. I said no — I asked ahead of time and Shadow was just quietly lying under my chair.

That’s when the drama started. The bride walked away angry, and later her mom told me I had “ruined her daughter’s special day” because “everyone’s Instagram stories were about the little black dog.”

Now some of my family is mad at me. They think I should’ve just taken Shadow home or not brought her at all, since it was the bride’s day. But others say the bride was being dramatic and Shadow didn’t do anything wrong.

So… am I the AITAH for not leaving with my dog when I was asked?
