📝 AITAH for refusing to let my boyfriend move in after he broke his lease without asking me first?

So, I (23F) have been dating my boyfriend (25M) for a little over a year. We don’t live together, but we spend a lot of time at each other’s places. A few weeks ago, he started complaining about his landlord raising rent and how it wasn’t “worth it anymore.”

I listened and gave him sympathy, but at no point did we talk about him moving in with me. My apartment is small (1-bedroom) and I’ve always enjoyed having my own space. Plus we haven’t even discussed living together seriously no long-term plan, no shared finances nothing.

Well, last week, he shows up at my place with boxes. I asked what was going on and he casually says “Yeah, I broke my lease. Figured it’s just smarter to live together anyway.”

I was shocked.

I told him “You never even asked me if I was okay with this!” and he acted like I was being unreasonable. He said “Come on, it’s just temporary. I thought you’d be happy.” I told him I wasn't happy and that it felt really manipulative to just show up with boxes like I’d have no choice.

He said I was being cold and unsupportive.

I told him I was sorry he felt that way but I wasn’t going to be guilt-tripped into something I didn’t agree to. I helped him find a short-term rental nearby and he’s been salty ever since. My friends are split some say he crossed a line others say I should’ve been more understanding.

So, AITAH for not letting him move in after he broke his lease without my consent?
