📝 AITAH for refusing to let my therapist know if I'm alright?

My therapist randomly mentioned that if ever I need to cancel, he'd like me to personally email him and tell him that I'm fine, instead of just canceling through the website. He said he'd be worried since I'm at risk of suicide (I'm depressed but not suicidal and never have been), and he'd like some reassurance that I'd be fine.

I refused, because:

  1. The client has the right to cancel with reasonable notice, I have a right to privacy regarding the reason and it's none of the provider's business
  2. Nobody is entitled to information regarding my status
  3. If I was going to end it, I wouldn't bother canceling the appointment

I also do not like this therapist (have no other options though) and couldn't care less if he's worried about me. I am not inclined to cooperate with him, I'm paying him so what does he care. I do not need him to know if I'm alright on a given week in order to be treated, it doesn't benefit me or contribute to my treatment.

He then said "maybe I won't feel comfortable treating you if you won't be willing to tell me this information". I called his bluff and said "fine, drop me as a client if you're not comfortable" which he didn't do.
