Went to dinner with 2 close friends and 1 friend of a friend who I have met once before. We are talking and drinking for hours no issues just good fun. Amy (fake name) and I are drunk at the end. At the end of the night we have to leave to give the table up at a certain hour so paying the bill is rushed. Amy decides to offer to pay for her friends meal. But then she also tells the waitress to split the meal 1/3 and 2/3. Amy paying the 1/3 and me paying the 2/3 to later split with our other friend. (Yes I know this is stupid, it was a rushed payout).
The next day I see my bill was $90. Amy’s bill was only $50 despite the fact that she was supposed to pay for her friend as well. So doing the math, if I split this bill with Chelsea (fake name) it would still leave us paying for part of this other persons meal. So I reach out and ask Amy to send me a little bit of money to help cover the bill and even it out as intended. Amy is dodging texts all day when she is usually quick to respond. Multiple times I reach out to no avail. If she had simply said “hey I can’t afford to pay you any right now I’ll get you next time” that would have been no big deal but that was not the case! Eventually 12 hours later she responds and sends me the money. I only asked for $15.
She’s of course been incredibly short and petty with me throughout these interactions so I ask her if she wants to talk this out and she says no. I am just appalled at her reaction over a whopping $15. That she had originally offered to pay.
(Amy and Chelsea are students and I do have a medium wage job but 80% of it goes to bills)
