In March of 2023 my (34f) niece April (2f) was born to my oldest sister Jaz (37f) and her husband Chris (37m). They'd been together for ten years and married for 7 so this kid was their first and it was so sweet to see how much they loved her. Everything was going great after April was born, I got closer with Jaz since we'd lost some contact in my 20s and i was babysitting a lot when Jaz got back into work. But it got to a point where i was spending 12 hours a day there, cooking and cleaning and looking after April's needs (i only worked on weekends). I was so tired at work then that i got demoted to sales assistant. I told Jaz I needed to pick up more shifts since my husband and I could not afford rent on my new salary and that meant no more babysitting. Jaz cracked it, telling me i was selfish and disrespectful to my older sister. I left and we stopped talking. In December 2024 she reached out and asked if my husband and I would like to come to Christmas at theirs in hopes of coming on good terms and we agreed. Little did I know my sister was no longer the same she had turned into the most basic, beige, millennial, bland mom. And she spoiled her daughter like crazy. Just for Christmas she got at least 2000 dollars worth of presents from Jaz. All beige coloured to fit her aesthetic. She began to talk to me about April's birthday party plans and it was really extravagant. Even though she'd taken up this new mom persona she was still very much the raunchy Jaz I remembered. We became very close again after Christmas and I'd missed her. She even invited me to help plan Aprils party. Her plan was a white bounce castle, white balloons, a grey cake with 2 displayed on it and plain snacks and desserts. That gave me the idea to buy colourful decorations and order bright coloured foods and an Elsa bounce castle (Aprils favourite princess). April deserved a fun colourful day not a boring bland millennial party. The day came and we held the party in Jaz's backyard. I told her to keep April distracted by going out for breakfast while Chris and I set up the decorations so we could surprise her. Well when they got back, i think we surprised both of them because Jaz screamed at me and told me to get out, claiming I 'didn't respect her wishes'. I left feeling really bad and Jaz cancelled the party. This was a few weeks ago and i've tried to reach out but no response. So AITAH?
