I (20F) have been best friends with my best friend (20M) since we were literal babies, like we basically grew up together because his dad used to work for my dad and then he got this insane scholarship to go to my high school and we just clicked because we were always together. Like he’s my baby brother at this point. Anyways, six months ago he got a girlfriend (20F) from his university and I had met her a couple times before but she always gave me this really weird vibe like she just did NOT like me. Which okay not everyone has to like me but every time I saw her she would just act kind of standoffish and almost… idk insecure? Like girl if you’re dating him, I’m obviously not trying to steal him?? Anyways.

So the other day one of my best high school friends had a birthday and invited a bunch of us to eat sushi at this really nice place (not naming names because people are weird but it’s a GOOD place) and she invited my best friend, and OBVIOUSLY he brought his girlfriend which like. Fine. But from the moment she sat down she was giving me and all my friends attitude. Like, full on eye rolls, crossed arms, sighing, THE WORKS. And we were just being normal??

ANYWAY so at one point we start talking about this one girl who was in the news recently because she got caught stealing jewelry from a store and she was trending ALL over social media last week because it was just so crazy. And I was like “damn that’s a shame because she’s actually really pretty, she could just get a good job instead of stealing” LIKE IT WAS A COMPLIMENT??? But then the gf suddenly turns to me and goes “so if she was ugly would it be okay for her to steal?” In the MOST passive aggressive tone. And I was like “uh no? That’s not what I meant” and then she goes “so you’re saying only pretty girls can get good jobs?” LIKE GIRL WHAT. That is NOT what I said but okay.

And then out of NOWHERE she just starts going off about how I’m a pick me and how I “only think pretty girls have value” which is INSANE because I LITERALLY said she could have had a good job INSTEAD of stealing. And then she calls me a WHORE???? In front of everyone??? And I was like girl you are literally projecting because why are you so MAD. So I tell her she’s insecure because honestly at this point it’s obvious that she just hates me for no reason and then it just FULLY ESCALATES.

She calls me a spoiled rich girl bc I’m from Escazú and go to a private university (what do you want me to do about that??) and then I snapped because like?? She was being a bitch FIRST. So I told her that at least I don’t wear sandals and a top that looks like it’s made of CELL O PHANE PAPER to a BIRTHDAY DINNER and that she looks like that one small round lady from that American reality show and then she just LOST IT.

At this point we are SCREAMING at each other and she THROWS A SOY SAUCE DISH AT ME. LIKE FULLY THROWS IT. And it HITS ME. So I stand up and call her a psycho bitch and then she tries to LUNGE at me but my best friend stops her and is like “wtf is wrong with you both” but like????? SHE STARTED IT???? So then I told him “good luck with your crazy ass girlfriend” and left.

Now my best friend is MAD at me saying I “should have just let it go” but like???? SHE CALLED ME A WHORE FIRST. And THREW SOY SAUCE AT ME. Like yeah I called her insecure and yeah I made fun of her outfit (it was UGLY SORRY) but I feel like she was the one who escalated things first.
