This's a bit of a old story, but my friends think I'm a asshole in this situation when we were talking about old neighbors.

When I was 16, I have lived with my (at the time) mom bf mom house and she have this neighbor who doesn't seem to like anyone and often rude. I have mowed his grass for him when he was in the hospital, just trying to a good neighbor. Never got a thank you or any knowledgeable, so I never did anything else for him.

I used to bike to school every day, but I got my license and car a year later. So the bike got parked right beside the garage and stayed there for a few months, at the time. The neighbor have moved out and I noticed that the bike was gone when I came home from school, I asked my grandma (I like to call her as my grandma) about it and she didn't moved it or anything. So I assume that the neighbor have took it as it was right beside the garage, I was a bit upset as I fixed that bike up after saving it from the dumpster. So I goes about my days and a week later, I was at the store getting stuff for dinner that day and I saw my ex-neighbor truck sitting there (I knew it was his because it had mismatch color doors, bed and hood) sitting in the bed was a bunch of scrap metal and my bike! I quickly ran over and see the homemade headlight on it and my custom plate with my Initial. After confirming that it was my bike, I quickly hop onto the bed and pulled my bike out, took back to my car, than taking it home. Never heard anything about that or got in trouble.

After telling my friend, she's telling me that I shouldn't have done that and should have the police handle it instead of stealing it back.
