This is such a non-issue, but my dad lives such an ordinary, planned out lifestyle that forgetting to buy an extra gallon of milk will send him into cardiac arrest. I am a teenager, but I have my own local business where I sell mainly just muffins. This has been a thing for about a year, but my dad manages it because he’s the one that drops them off since I don’t have a license yet, so that means he’s also in charge of asking regular customers and other businesses if they want a batch of dozens for a week. So, keep in mind that we’re a lower/mid middle class family, so our kitchen isn’t big or small, and the counter space is obviously limited. It’s Sunday, so naturally I ask him who wants muffins. I asked this at 12pm. I reminded him to text again at 1pm, since he forgot. It is now 4:50pm, and he forgot. So that’s when he decides to text. After he tells me he texted some people, I say “It’s too late, please tell them nevermind.”, as anyone with a concept of time would do. Now I’m also in the kitchen, freezing blueberries and walnuts in freezer bags because they were supposed to me used today. He gets mad at me and calls me ridiculous for saying it’s too late. I say “okay.” Not in a condescending way, in a “hey, I understand that you’re angry and I am also not super happy about this either, but I am saying okay because it will not be the end of the world if these people don’t get muffins.”, way. But surprise surprise, he takes it the wrong way. If i were to make muffins, the least batches I’d make would be around 4-5 dozen. I only have 2 muffins pans. Each batch bakes for around 20-22 mins. He’s cooking dinner, dinner would be ready in about 1 hour. See the problem? After they’re done I need to take them out, let them cool for 20-25 mins. After they’re cool, I’d have to bag them individually. I’m simple words, I wouldn’t be able to eat dinner and make muffins at the same time, and since my dad is making dinner, he’s taking up the whole counter space. Also, making that many muffins would take me at least 3 hours, including bagging them. Yes, my dad has been like this. He’s a spoiled youngest son and a 46 yr old baby. So, AITAH for saying it is too late to make muffins.
