(Marking with NSFW cause it mentions ovulation 🤷)
I'm 20, my friend is 21, and we've been friends for 2-3 years now. I've told her this multiple times to stop oversharing with me, but she never seems to listen. Close friends confide in each other yes, but I feel as though it is still appropriate to set boundaries yeah?
Sometimes she'll tell me that her stomach cramps hurt, that's she's nauseous, or that she has a headache, and that's fine! But sometimes she tells me when she's having trouble in the bathroom (lactose intolerance), when she's gassy, or what made me make this post: telling me she's ovulating. I understand this is all just human body stuff, but I really don't need to know that stuff about people nor do I want to hear about it.
I try to tell myself that I'm overthinking it, but she goes on and on about it when she talks about it and she does this repeatedly and in detail which makes me uncomfortable. No, this is not due to a lack of knowledge of the human body. I understand all that. I just don't need to know why someone's using the bathroom for 20 minutes.
I've also tried telling myself that maybe she's just like this cause I know she overshares with her parents, but that's no excuse when I have explicitly told her to stop oversharing with me, that I don't need to know this about her, and that it makes me uncomfortable (I've told her these things repeatedly throughout the 2-3 years I've known her).
Anyways, she was telling me about her ovulating for probably the fifteenth time and I REALLY don't need to know that. She was going ON AND ON about it as she normally does despite me telling her to stop. I then texted my other friend (he's close friends with the both of us and knows the struggle) and he told her to cool it with the ovulation talk. She got mad I think and left the call we were in. I'm not anxious, mad, or upset by it by any means cause I've told her repeatedly I don't like it and that's one of the few boundaries I've tried to set with her. So, AITAH?
Also if you have any tips or suggestions on how to deal with people like this, please let me know. I can't deal with this 😭
