So I have a 5 month old and we are staying with my parents. It’s our first time as a family with them (they live on the other side of the country). I was here with them a few months ago just me and my daughter, and my husband stayed at home. So it’s the first time he is here with them.
I trust my parents dogs - they are Scottish terriers who sit on the couch. The whole week I was here without my husband, I had no problems them being on the couch when I was cuddling my daughter, or my parents were. There was always a pillow between me and the dogs when I had my daughter and I wasn’t concerned at all.
Now my husband is here and he is furious. He says they are untrained and doesn’t trust them at all. He wants them on the floor when people hold our daughter. I have told him I was here a week by myself with them and I trust the dogs (and know them more than he does) and he has completely disregarded this and told me I need to tell my parents that they need to go on the floor when we and them are holding her. He has told me if I don’t, he is taking our child to a hotel and they’re going to stay there until our flight leaves.
I am upset because I trust them and I have already put a boundary in place and my husband is completely disregarding my opinion and thoughts and saying they are going on the floor - no questions asked. I feel like he just doesn’t respect or trust my judgement here at all. My parents also are now finding it awkward, because I had no problems with it but now my husband is here, it’s becoming a big deal.
