Ok, so this happened a few months ago. I was at a drive up ATM at my bank. There are two ATM lanes to drive through. When I pulled in, both were in use and I was the only one waiting. What I like to do is wait back a little in between both ATMs so that whichever one opens first, I can pull into that one. Then, someone else comes in line behind me, and decides to pull around me enough to take the right lane, clearly knowing what I was doing. Of course that ATM gets free first, so they shove past me and take it. No big deal, the other ATM opens up maybe 30 seconds later. I pull in and decide to say something. I’m not a majorly confrontational person, but when someone knowingly does something that’s rude, I like to at least let them know. I just like to remain calm and ask questions, like “Was that really necessary?” Or like in this example, I believe I said something along the lines of, “You know I was waiting there right? Did you really have to do that?” I like to keep it simple and not blow up. In this example, I got a “There’s two lanes for a reason!!” And he…or she (honestly I’m not trying to make fun, but I could not tell entirely if it was a man or a woman. I would say it was a woman.)…she just kept repeating, “There’s two lanes for a reason!!” when I would response with “But come on…” and “Really?” So I said, “Have a nice day.” and moved on. Should I not linger between two lanes? Should I commit at the beginning? Whats the rule here? AITAH?
