I (20F) and my fiancè (20M) are planning to get married in 2 years. We have been together for 5 and engaged for 1. We are both believers in Christ and Christians; however we are both non-traditional. I dress gothic and identify as goth, not only because of dress but the things I like , the way I think etc (while still holding my values). My fiance is similar often wearing tech wear and enjoying similar things. I recently sat down with my mom and dad (my fiance was unable to make it) and told them about the wedding ideas, what we wanted etc and asked for their opinion. However my parents said the wedding seems satanic and to be careful (understandable about the careful but not satanic). The also were upset it was not in a church (something me and my fiance agreed on bc again non traditional). They do not totally agree with how I dress in general either so that did not help. It got worse when I showed them the dragon wedding cake we wanted and the black wedding dress I wanted. I care about my parents opinions a lot and I care about honoring God as well. If it comes off as satanic that is an issue to me, but how do I plan a goth wedding while still holding true to what my fiance and my family wants ? I am non confrontational and the last thing I want to do is have to fight more about this. Any advice is appreciated. If you need photos I can totally show photos (as silly as it is I have a Pinterest board haha).
