📝 AITAH for wanting to distance/avoid my emotionally abusive and lying father?

Successful woman in her mid 40s who has an emotionally abusive and lying father. AITAH for wanting to distance myself from him? I feel a sense of obligation and guilt that I need to be there for him. But he has been emotionally abusive and manipulative all of my life and it is so exhausting listening to his narrative of things.

While I a firm believer that everyone is entitled to their narrative or version of events, it is hard for me to stand by and listen to him attack my character and those of people I love. He has extracted himself from all of family and only has a select group of friends. They must think I am a neglectful daughter but many of them have seen his rages...

Have anyone of you "broken up" with one of your parents?
