So I (f17) have worked at this fast food chain for a little over a year now. At first, it was great and my coworkers were really nice. However, soon everything started to reveal itself. My boss refuses to fire people who literally leave mid shift without warning after assaulting another coworker, people who ate customer orders, and people who literally prey on the underage workers. They also allow the staff to be treated like trash. I am a lesbian. I have a pride pin on my work hat. Because of my pin, a customer called me a slur (you know which one) and proceeded to tell me about how he hopes I burn in hell. I was four months into the job and they just said we can't kick him out because the customer is always right. Some of my co-workers have had milkshakes thrown at them and been called racial slurs and our boss just tries to appeal to the customer. Side note, my state is Illinois and minimum wage is $15. They refuse to pay anyone under 18 minimum wage unless they are brand new. I literally make less than the people I'm training. I have a coworker (m40s) who had to be reminded that I was underage (I was 16 at that time) because he wouldn't stop harassing me. I was going to quit but one of my friends said 'it would be a bitchy move for you to leave just because of a few bad experiences' even tho this stuff happens almost every shift. My mom also agrees with my friend. So AITAH? (side note not all of my co-workers suck just majority.) Also my biggest concern isn't the customers but some of my coworkers who can flip out and hurt people.
