My 22M girlfriend 24F is upset because I wore what she considers “immature, stupid, childish shorts” when hanging out at her parents’ beach property. It was my first time meeting her parents.

The shorts were blue with rubber ducks on them.

They also weren’t mine.

She didn’t tell me we’d be swimming so I didn’t bring any swim clothes. Her younger brother (19M) offered me a random pair he had never worn and I said fuck it. Problem solved.

This was a mistake apparently.

My girlfriend feels like I embarrassed her and she’s afraid her uptight dad won’t respect me because he saw me in those shorts. Apparently he made a comment that the shorts are small on me. Aside from that my girlfriend couldn’t give me any concrete proof that he doesn’t like me or has an issue with me.

Everyone knew I had borrowed these shorts.

My girlfriend’s mom found it funny, called them “cute” and said she liked them.

I had no idea this was an issue or that I emasculated myself somehow, until my girlfriend and I were driving home that night.

I just wanted to share it so she can see that she’s being so unreasonable……. I can’t be the AH here
