I'm 20, about to turn 21, and I'm moving into an apartment soon. I have been scouring the Internet for a used washer and dryer so I won't have the use the communal laundry room, and I finally found someone selling a set for $300. He said there were lots of people interested, but everyone so far had cancelled, so if I cancelled he would just move on to the next person. I explained this to my dad and asked if he could help me pick them up at a certain date and time and he agreed. I would do it myself, but I drive a small convertible, and trying to carry a large appliance like that would be both unsafe and illegal. My dad told me he would pick up a trailer from a friend of his on the day we were supposed to pick up the washer and dryer. I even called him to remind him on the way home. Of course, he showed up without it. I asked what happened and he said he wanted to wait until my stepmom got home to go pick it up. I cannot fathom any reason as to why. But I was like sure, okay, I guess we'll still have time. My stepmom got home a little while later and I was like okay come on let's go, I don't want to be late. My dad told me not to rush him and that I didn't need to come with him to pick up the trailer so I should get some packing done while he was gone. That made me suspicious but I went downstairs to pack anyways. Half an hour later I went back upstairs to see my dad sitting on the couch in his fucking underwear, fast asleep. I started shouting at him which woke him up. I asked why he hadn't left yet. He said we should just do it another day. I told him no, like I said before, if I cancel today the guy is going to sell them to someone else. We went back and forth for a while before I stormed downstairs and haven't been back up since. My stepmom came down later to tell me dinner was ready and to try and play peacemaker. She said my dad was just tired and that he didn't feel like moving anything that day. I think he shouldn't have agreed to it then so I could have at least considered other options. I texted the guy and he said it was too late to do anything now. AITAH?
