📝 AITAH - I left a date without comment because she seemed uninterested

This is something out of post factum curiosity, since there are no stakes in it anymore and the whole scenario is about 14 years ago.

I told my partner yesterday that during one date with a woman I met before her, I just stood up in silence, paid my coffee and left. This left her kind of baffled and she said that was shitty behavior.

The background is: the woman I went on a date with was suggested to me by a friend. She knew that I was very into music and the arts in general and so she suggested somebody I could meet who is into the same stuff. I actually did meet her at a party beforehand and she seemed perfectly nice, so I agreed to meet her.

During the date we talked about general life stuff at first. I told her that I was interested in artistic things too and tried to get the conversation going. When I described what I liked about certain things, I never got any follow-up questions or comments or even acknowledgements that she doesn't know what I'm talking about. It was always "ok", "aha" or "mh".

At some point I've had enough and I just stood up, paid and left.

The thing is - my current partner of 12 years was the exact opposite of that! That's why we got together and I would have never done it with her or somebody who seemed at least a little bit interested.

So - AITAH?
