📝 AITAH if I cut off my friend for lying?

So I have a “friend” or someone I would have liked to think was a friend who lies for absolutely no reason. This past Friday we made plans to hang out today (Sunday). She called me this morning to wake me up out of my sleep. Assuring me that her and I would be hanging out today.

So of course I got up, showered, got dressed and now I’m waiting. For a little back story though…recently I noticed when hanging with her she will lie and tell others her mom is sick so she doesn’t have to see them. This friend also has a history of not being dependable and not keeping her word.

So today after telling me she’s coming I get ready, but soon hours start to pass. I finally get a text message that’s reads “hey sorry I hope you’re not upset but I have to stay home because my mom is vomiting and in pain so I don’t want to leaver her”. I told her fine and I expressed that I hoped her mom felt better and wished her well.

I get undressed get in my bed and decide to relax the rest of the day. About an hour passed and something told me to check this friend’s location. I seen her driving to a bowling alley I assume to hang with friends.

Now I don’t know if this really matters, but I do not smoke or drink so I’m usually the “lame” friend. I’m not into partying and clubbing or being the center of attention when I go out. I don’t judge people who do that’s just not my cup of tea and I’m fine with that.

So I’m assuming she’s out with friends at the bowling alley and they’re obviously going to do stuff that I am not into, but my problem is she lied about it. The other day she made a comment stating that I was “the level headed friend” and it’s refreshing sometimes being with someone who “isn’t into drugs or alcohol”.

Now I’m starting to feel like I’m a back up friend or someone convent for when she doesn’t have her real friends to hang out with. When she’s hurting or has a problem I’m the one she calls…I just don’t like the fact she lied.

Did I overstep a boundary by checking her location? Am I doing entirely too much by making this a big deal? AITAH?
