I, 25 (F) had 1 month vacation after i graduated then proceeded to working my ass off everyday as an adult away from my home. My salary is minimum but it covers my rent, food, and wants. I send money to my family as well (not big amount).

Mom visited me a while ago, so we had the chance to talk about family members. I have one sister that is 5 yrs older than me, and she stays in my parent’s house. No work, no savings. She wanted to have driver’s license but scared to fail the test, so my parents paid double the cost just to have it done without my sister attending any seminars or tests necessary to obtain drivers license. Then, she wanted a car, and my parents are considering buying her. They make sure she has an allowance for utilities and foods, so they always give her money, aside from the money i am sending as well. They are aware of giving her special treatment as she has skin disease which made her lose confidence in working, which I understand. Truly. But with all her access to comfortable work from home set up, she still couldn’t find a job for 3 year and a half.

Then, mom saw every shoes, make ups, and clothes i bought using my own money, and there she went saying how irresponsible i am. My family back home is living a simple life, yet here i am buying things i don’t need. But my last straw was when I bought a midnight snack because i was hungry, then she just commented that she hope i will experience difficulties in life so i would know how to carefully spend money. So i told her that i don’t have any obligation nor responsibility because i don’t have a family (husband and kids) that i need to consider whenever i try to buy something for myself. I followed by saying i didn’t work just to give and give.

So she’s here talking to her friends saying she will allow me do anything with my money now because i said i don’t have any responsibilities to anyone. Aitah for saying those…
