I was blocked by someone on Tandem.

I was talking to someone on Tandem and we had a call to practice my target language, it was good and I thanked him and gave him a reference and he gave me one too. Next day he texts me how are you and I replied fine and you? And the conversation continued on small things like what do you do today and so on, tbh I don’t really like this types of conversations as they are boring and not thought stimulating to me but I don’t tell the other party about this unless it gets too boring.

Today this person also messages me the same thing how are you and what are you doing today, I told him I am only studying as that’s my life, and you? He told what he did and so on, then he messaged me saying when can we have another call, I didn’t want to as the conversation will turn very boring as we already had a call, but I didn’t say that, I told him that:

“I am studying a lot and dedicating time for a call is hard for me to do, but we can definitely continue through the chat as it’s easier for me, I just wanted to be honest and clear as many people here on Tandem just ignore or block someone with whom they don’t want to have calls and I don’t do that.

He replied” oh, that’s bad, there’s always time and it’s just a matter of organising, but that’s fine, I understood.

I said, yes there’s always time but I also need to relax ( here I mean that free time is not only for talking to others, but also for oneself). I told him that what he understood was wrong and I wanted to actually continue with him ( I did want to, just with chats as they are easier and less time consuming) and that I didn’t want to be incosiderate like others and just ignore him when I didn’t want to have calls, he just blocked me.

Bear in mind that I actually do study.

I did say what I said to some other users before on Tandem and they accepted it with no issues.

My question is, was I rude (AH) or he is the one who didn’t respect my boundaries?

Please be nice and honest as I genuinely want to understand.
