This one’s quite short. I’m a little peeved by my partner disregarding my warnings about their technology. I got them a gift for a special occasion that they don’t know about yet, but now I have regrets after what they’ve said.
Basically I’ve offered to get them a new phone, because theirs is old, low on storage, and eventually going to have issues (It’s 5ish years old now). I explained how I could get them a device at such a low price, or practically free besides taxes, activation, (which I offered to pay for as a gift) etc. During it they got upset with me, said they didn’t want or need anything new (despite complaining about their devices issues), said they didn’t like the OS/Platform and didn’t want anything more there. Sadly it sucks cause it’s an android phone, and I had planned on giving them a new smart watch to track their health issues and or give them peace of mind, as a gift to pair with their old device, or even better, a brand new device that’s a huge upgrade. After this little explosion they apologized and said it was due to family stress.
It feels like all of this kinda just went out the window all of a sudden and now I’m wondering what do I even do for their special occasion? I’m also worried if they backpedal after it’s simply because they realized the value later and then wanted it anyways. So how can I trust their word on things like these? It’s really unusual for them to act like this, and it caught me off guard. It made me feel bad for trying to look out for them as well.
