My (60F) best friend, Debbie (59F) is an alcoholic. She knows it, but she just isn't ready to sober up. She will get sober for a few months, then right back to the wine.

Tonight she called me on Facetime, drunk, and told me three times that she's put in for retirement, along with all the details about that. I asked her if she was drunk, she said yes, and I said, "Hon, I just cannot talk to you when you're drunk. You get repetitive and annoying. Can you call me when you've sobered up some?"

She looked really hurt, and I feel awful, but I just cannot deal with drunk people. Am I TA for not hanging around right now?
