My little sister (23F) just finished her apprenticeship at her salon and is taking her own clients. She is very excited to be done with the school/apprenticeship phase of hair and start making an income, as she should. She has expressed multiple times she would be offended/hurt if someone in the family went to another stylist for hair services and even my mom has made it clear we are all to support her. She’s even told my friends they have to change stylists to her. Sister’s prices are set by the owner and she has been telling me since she’s brand new the prices will be very affordable….. she just sent the list and shocker the prices are not low. 55 for haircut, 200 for a partial/haircut, 235 for balayage/haircut for reference and we live southern USA small city. She has also made it clear that because she is taking clients she will not be doing anyone’s hair at home anymore and nobody gets a family discount, we have to pay full price and she’s mentioned tipping is expected. I know some people are going to comment that I should be supporting my sister’s business and I agree and want to do that for her but dang??? None of the other stylists I’ve been to since living here have charged that much and they’ve had 10 or so years of experience. So anyways, am I the asshole or is this a little ridiculous?
