Was I the asshole? Wife and I celebrating our 41st anniversary. We booked a weekend stay at a swanky 115 yr old downtown hotel. Our room is a $1,000/night VIP room with its own floor check-in, private lounge, private concierge, etc. The loung serves appi's, horsedouvres, honor bar Scotches, etc. In the lounge. You get the picture. Breakfast in the lounge, they have soft Zen Music playing, a TV on with news, but silent, on CC. This guy is sitting there, not 5 feet from our table, with his cel phone on speaker, blaring his tik tok, news, etc. I ask "hey, brother, do you have earbuds by any chance? The sound is really carrying". "No I dont" he replies. Turns it down a micro decibel. Then his partner sits beside him and SHE turns her spkr on, so now we have TWO phones dualing tinny, ear-piercing noise.
So I turn my phone onto hockey highlights and crank it to the max on speaker, while looking at both of them. Turned into a verbal argument and his partner (she threatens to wrap my wife's cane around her neck and shove it up my ass (my wife is disabled in a med scooter). "I'm from Ireland where we beat the shit out of guys like you".

I got up, took our breakfasts to our room and spoke to the concierge of the floor about what happened. An attendant was trying to calm the situation. AITAH? Now we're both afraid to go use this soothing lounge for fear of running into them.
