My friend and I went to eat last weekend. I told the server to split the bill evenly because we got sharables + 2 glasses of wine each. Total came up to $92, which divided by 2 would be 46. The server made me pay first using their little screen, and instead of 46 it was 56. when I saw that amount, I figured what game she played because my cousin, who happens to be a server , told me sometimes they do that to get extra money — they add to your check and if you don’t say anything, you’ll add tip and that’s their way of stealing from customers. So I decided not to tip because of our server’s dishonesty. I told my friend right in front of the server that the tip was included because server showed me 92 and I’m having to pay 56. Later that night, I talked about it with my friend again, she said that the server showed her $46 so she tipped because that made sense with what we got. If the server didn’t pull that card on me, I was going to tip 14 to make it 60. AITH for acting like that?
