I (17M) recently lost many friends in a plane crash earlier this year, including my best friend. This was an extremely difficult time for me and our community, as you may expect.
A couple of days after the tragedy, one of my (now former) friends (16F) messaged me. She obviously knew about this crash and even reposted some stories about it on Instagram, so l assumed she was grieving along with the rest of us. She messaged me, "how are you doing", to which I replied "feeling hella depressed, I can't believe I can't see my best friend anymore".
You would think that she would reply something along the lines of "sorry for your loss", right? WRONG. She messages me, "well I'm your best friend too!" WTF.
I'm not overreacting when I say that this is a psychopathic thing to say to someone, right? How is asserting your own status your first reaction to someone talking about their loss?!
After that, I was just too shocked to keep the convo going. I left her on read for a couple of days, and while I don't completely ghost her, I just give half-assed responses every now and then. Am I in the wrong?
