📝 Brother proposing 2 weeks before my wedding

When I’ve searched online I’ve seen lots of people saying that this is totally okay but I cannot understand why. Our wedding is May 24 and yesterday my brother texts me saying he is proposing the 10th. I tried to talk to him about how I don’t like that he’s doing it so close to my wedding and he said that it’s the best date to get both families together. We have been planning this event for a year and a half, and most of the guests are family on our side. I asked him if he could consider proposing sooner to allow things to settle a bit more before the wedding but he said it wouldn’t work for him. I think it’s really awkward for our wedding to be the first time you’re seeing so much family following an engagement. I wish we could have had time for a celebration just for them first. My thought is just why could you not wait a couple weeks? Yes, the bride and groom get one day not an entire year, but we’ve had this date for so long and he knows that naturally with the dynamics of our family it will be a big announcement.
