This morning after emptying the plastic kitchen bin I noticed that it has some dribbles of stuff in the bottom crevices from remnants of soda cans, bottle, cans. I washed the bin out in the sink and used the same hard plastic bristle scrubber as we use to rewash dishes that go into the dishwasher.

My partner saw me do this and made me throw away the plastic scrubber saying that it was gross and un-hygienic and could not be used any more, and I should not be cleaning the bin in the kitchen sink,

We got into a fight about this and am looking to see if AITH? It's not like this is any other food, old food in Tupperware bins that has gone bad in the refrigerator! My partner said that everything is cross contaminated now.
