📝 AITA for telling my mom I’m not her “backup best friend”?

So I (18F) recently graduated high school and have been getting ready to move out for college. My mom (40s) has always been kind of overbearing — like, she’d text me 10 times if I didn’t answer in 5 minutes and act like I was missing if I didn’t update her constantly.

Now that I'm about to leave, she's been super clingy. She keeps trying to make “girls nights” happen, wants to add me to her group chats with her friends (who are like 40+), and even suggested we get matching tattoos?? (I said no, obviously.)

I finally snapped the other day and told her:
"Mom, I’m your daughter, not your backup best friend. You need your own life."

She got super upset, started crying, and said I was being heartless and "too excited to leave." Now the whole family is divided — my aunt thinks I was being cruel, but my older brother says it was about time someone said it.

I feel guilty because I love my mom, but... I just want to be 18 and live my life without feeling like her emotional crutch.
AITA?
