2 days ago (Tuesday) I received a job offer and put in my notice at work. I actually gave them almost 3 weeks, as I told them my last day will be 2 weeks from Friday. I wanted to give them as much time as possible to find my replacement, although my company is slow at hiring so it will probably take a month or longer.

Today I asked if it would be okay if I took the day after Easter off, because my wife is off work, and kids are out of school that day. I was told that my team really needs me here every day for the next 2.5 weeks to help with the transition. I really like the people I work with, so I feel bad and like I’m letting them down. Would it be an asshole move to just call in sick that day? Obviously they would know it was pre planned, and would make the next 4 days at work a little awkward.
