So basically here's what went down, Me my husband, our 3 kids and my 2 nephews went out to dinner tonight. One of my kids is a newborn so obviously she's not eating, so over all 6 seats and six orders. Our severer was extremely nice, and overall I'd rate the service about an 8/10. It was a really good night and a good experience.
During dinner my older 2 kids were both well behaved, but when picking up her glass my 3y/o accidently knocked it over. I was in the process of cleaning it up but then the waitress came and cleaned it up and told me not to worry. I apologized and thanked her and she cleaned the mess up, and brought my daughter a cup with a lid. And a different chair to sit in.
Overall our bill came to around $300, I tipped $100 on top of that and I thought it was sufficient, she was a great server, there was 6 of us, AND she cleaned up our mess. But one of my friends who is a sever at a restaurant said that my tip was shitty, and I should've left at least tipped $20 more. I disagreed because it was wat over 20%. The said I just don't understand because I've never worked in customer service/the service industry. So idk. I honestly don't think I'm and an asshole at all but I'd love to know from other people who have worked that field what would've been acceptable?
