My girlfriend spends every waking second of the day on her phone because she “works with social media” TikTok and Instagram to be specific, posting videos about conspiracy theories, aliens, magic, and ghosts. Which I understand is fine as a hobbie, for her it’s not, it’s a full time job / obsession because that’s the only things she ever talks about. For me it’s hard because it’s like I’ve heard the same shit, same old scripts for years now and I’m just so tired of it. I think it’s dumb and a waste of time but for her ? She’s got 42k followers on IG and idk how many on TikTok. Did I mention she’s unemployed and thinks her posting on instagram is gonna make money? I’m M26 and she’s F37. I’m a carpenter and stagehand. She bartends and waits tables but insists she cannot find work anywhere…. We’re coming up on two years together and she’s literally only had a job for 4 months of that time. Any other time, I can bet she’s sitting in the room on the bed on instagram or TikTok… Am I the asshole for not wanting to continue being with someone betting that their social media career is gonna take off? Like I understand it can make money at some point just like I’m a music producer and that can make money at some point but until that point.. don’t regular people find a way to make money or what do I do? Tell her to kick rocks???… this is getting to be a hard situation for a us both smh and I’m just trying to find a reasonable solution..
