📝 I Rejected a Gift from my Mom

My mother and I are both fairly sensitive people. She showed me a square piece of cloth that she said had annointing oil on it and had been prayed over for my mental wellbeing. She wanted me to keep it under my car seat or my mattress. Not only am I not religious, but I was harmed by my religious upbringing and feel very uncomfortable around religious things. I told her I understood she meant well, and that the gesture was very meaningful, but that I felt uncomfortable in receiving the gift. I told her I wouldn't ask her to throw it away or anything, just keep it somewhere for her rather than give it to me. She pressed just a little bit, but I told her I didn't feel she was being particularly sensitive to the effect that religion has had on me. She said she would respect my decision but it looked like she was about to cry. I told her I was sorry because I understood that it was meaningful it just made me feel really uncomfortable. She told me I shouldn't be sorry for how I feel, but I do. Am I the asshole for not accepting the gift?
