Title says it all. I'm obsessed with Sleep Token and I want to dress, authentically, as their vocalist Vessel for Halloween. I want to sing nothing but Sleep Token songs at karaoke while in character too. When I get a costume idea, I go all out and I'm pretty excited. I showed my wife pics - she indicated I would be viewed as racist and wearing black face if I paint my body and face in black paint and wear the vessel mask with a robe. There's nothing racially charged behind Sleep Token and, if anything, I'd look like a Kabuki demon or something to those unaware. I don't see how the costume could be misconstrued as playing on the minstral stereotypes associated with blackface, but I'm also open to being wrong.

My wife said I can maybe dress up if deemed not the asshole - what are your thoughts?
