So I live in one of those townhouse subdivisions that don't have an actual backyard but a shared green space between the backs of houses. Every now and then I cut through and every once and a while my neighbors will have their dog largish dog outside who is pretty aggressive, he will bark and lunge at anybody passing through. I don't want to be bit by the dog so I grabbed a kiwi sized rock on my way home and sure enough he was out and a threw it at him, granted I didn't throw it hard or even hit the dog but the bang it made on the concrete was just enough to sacre him off. Out comes the owner though telling my that I am trying to hurt her dog and next time I try doing that again she won't hesitate to get the police involved. I can easily just not save 30 seconds and not cut through the common area, but I need to know AITAH?

Edit: Guess IATAH, lesson learned. I'll just avoid the common area
