So just a heads up, this is gonna be quite lengthy but I feel like that’s required to get the whole picture. So I am 21, almost 22, I have 2 siblings that are twins and are 18. All 3 of us, my mom and her boyfriend all live together, my mom is on disability and therefore gets assistance from the government each month to help with things like paying bills and groceries, stuff essential for living, THAT IS IMPORTANT, but she gets pretty much the bare minimum for stuff like that. We live in a trailer park in a single wide trailer with 3 bedrooms, I’m the oldest then technically my sister followed by my brother by a minute. I make around $500 per week at my job, my sister makes a variable amount because she’s a waitress so she mainly relies on tips, and my brother currently doesn’t have a job but is aggressively pursuing one. My mom is currently charging me $140/week to live with her, and I don’t know how much for my siblings. Our rent, and just rent, is ~$500/month, I think a little over. She also has thinks like payments for a van that only my sister drives, a washer and a fridge from Home Depot that she pays each month. I always thought $140 per week should be enough for all of that combined with what she gets each month from the government plus my sister (also my brother when he did have a job), but she insists it’s not, today we went to our DSS building and they concluded that based on my income and how much per month we spend, it’s logical for me to be paying about the amount I’m paying PER MONTH, AGAIN, THIS IS IMPORTANT. They say $140 PER MONTH is reasonable, I’m paying that every single week plus a credit card bill among other things. What I want to know, is am I the asshole for wanting to move out because I feel like I’m being over charged to live with my mom? Or SHOULD I be paying more?
