📝 My parents freaked out at the thought of helping me financially

I’m 22 and graduating college in May and already have a job to start at the end of summer. My older brother is 25 and lives with my parents and he has a job and a lot money saved already since he doesn’t have to pay for rent, food, or a car. My job is too far from home so I will have to have my own place that I’ll pay the rent for.

My parents have supported my brother and i through college 100% financially and are loaded. I finished in 4 years but my brother did graduate school they paid for it all 6 years. I asked my parents if I could still have access to the family card until I’m 25 like my brother did and they flipped out on me( Our cards both expire this year and they’re not renewing them). I thought it was reasonable request, I would pay my rent with my salary and save the rest by using their card to cover food and necessities. My dad instantly goes to saying how he supported himself financially once he was 18. They know I don’t take them for granted and I’m appreciative but I just feel like it should be fair between me and my brother. Considering I only did undergrad and my brother did under grad and graduate while also being in a fraternity the difference is immense.

My mom, dad, and brother reacted like I said something so incomprehensibly foul and I don’t understand.

Please don’t call me a spoiled brat or anything I’m extremely grateful and I know how fortunate I am compared to other people.
