My roommate keeps playing music at night when he showers, and watches TV or movies.
The music can be heard, but is not so bad when he actually keeps it down. But what he sees as quiet is not always quiet.
He tends to watch TV at night.
Last night at 1:30 am, I came into the dorm, after we had fought over it, and he said that he had given me silence all day, and in the last 15 minutes decided to watch a show, and let me know he had been gracious to do so.
Now - I LOVE silence, especially at night. It helps me sleep. It allows my mind to wonder. It makes me feel relaxed after a day of input and output. My love of silence is non-typical compared to my roommates rather more 'normal' need for constant input, which I admittedly look at with condesension, and I imagine it comes off that way (I did write this last paragraph with contempt to not paint myself too well).
Am I the asshole for asking my roommate to shut the fuck up and use headphones or just to not play music at night?
