Dear community,

For several years now, I’ve been dealing with problems within a deeply dysfunctional family. My parents are toxic, struggling with alcoholism, violence, and both physical and psychological abuse. Over time, they managed to achieve what seems to have been their goal all along: to have me declared mentally disabled.

I hold higher education degrees and consider myself a normal, capable person. However, this declaration has severely affected my life. It has led to a constant state of distress, as my basic rights as a person are not being respected. I’ve been forced to sign documents that put me in a bad position in society and make it extremely difficult for me to find a job—something they constantly pressure me about, without realizing how badly they’ve messed up my life.

These are people who want to control everything, to the point of treating others like puppets. I want to know what I can do in my situation, as I’m forced to reach out through this medium because I have no other choice. Any advice, experiences, or useful information would mean a lot to me.
