There's a family owned donut place with two shops in the town where I live that make the best donuts but the owners are highly religious (Christian/Baptist) who h is fine, I am too kind of. They're closed on Sundays because of obvious reasons but they're also had both of their stores closed all week in observance of Easter (from the 14th to the 21st) but the called this morning saying they had some work they've been needing done and decided this would be the perfect time to do it.
Maybe I'm being petty because I can't get my sugar fix, or maybe it's because I'm the "religious" kind that doesn't like people picking and choosing Bible verses to excuse their personal life choices but I politely informed the woman who called that if they are taking the whole week off for a religious holiday that it would be rude of me, a fellow believer, to work for them during that time.
I have nothing against a small business owner making their own hours and taking off for religious reasons. There's a parts house owned by a Jewish family that shits down a few days every December for Hanukkah and that's never been an issue. But if you take off work for "religious reasons" and you and me have the same religion, don't call me to work for you while you're off. Does that seem fair?
