So I was working as a barman two or three weeks ago. I was assigned a delivery shift. It was supposed to be 6 hours for two people to store 150 20L kegs, which is completely fine. But when the day of the shift arrived, my coworker that was supposed to help was sick and instead of 150 kegs I had to unload and store 300 kegs of beer. On top of that, it had to be done before opening time. So I thought, you know what, fine. Let’s get it done with. So i rolled 6 beers at a time up and down a flimsy elevator and lifted each keg over my shoulder to push it into storage. I took me about 5.5 hours without any breaks at all. All i had was a can of sprite that I chugged to get the job done before opening time. When I did finish the job I asked the bar manager if I could have a pint without clocking out for the remaining 30 minutes of my shift. He said he wasn’t sure and that I had to call the manager and ask. So I did and the manager said absolutely not and that I should clock out immediately as the job was to store away all the deliveries and that I must clock out when the job was done. I replied and said that I went above and beyond for minimum wage and that he didnt have the courtesy to find a replacement for the sick coworker. He didn’t even reply. As it turns out, the job wasnt done. There was one pallet of soft drinks behind the bar that needed to be put away. I asked all my coworkers to please not help me as I had to do the job alone and it was my shift and then I took an hour and 45 minutes slow pacing each can of sprite and coke back and forth. I was so tired but it felt so good. What do you think reddit. AITAH?
