My stepson wants to borrow my car all the time. He just got his license and doesn't have a car of his own yet. My car is in disrepair, to tell you the truth I don't even know that it's safe to drive. Mostly I just don't like lending my things out. It's my only car and I live 20 miles from work. I'm the sole provider for the household. If something happens to it we are all screwed. I'm worried it'll either break down on him, or worse throw a bearing or something and sling him into a ditch. I'm worried he'll mess around and total it. I just don't want anyone using my car. It's my first car, it's mine. I worked very hard to get it. I walked everywhere before I could afford it and I didn't get it til I was 30. He doesn't have a job which means he can't put in on gas. I don't make a lot of money. I work in fast food and support a family of 4. My budget is super strict and that includes gas money. AITA for expecting him to walk himself where he wants to go like his father and I did, or should I just shut up and deal?
