📝 Using mobility parking after cleared to walk

So I fractured my ankle 2 months ago. The doctor gave me a mobility permit, but I couldn’t use it much as I wasn’t driving. I have recently been cleared to drive, and intend to return to work in the next 2-3 weeks.

I fractured my ankle because I was skating to work, as there is no parking where I work. They have a lot about 2 km away, where we can park. Yes, I could have walked the distance and added 30 minutes to my commute. But I chose to skate to save myself time. I fell and fractured my ankle during the skate. If I had paid the $18/ day to park on site, I would not have had the issue. With a mobility permit, I can park within feet of my site for free.

Now that I have been cleared to walk, my partner thinks I should give up the permit, since I don’t need it anymore. But my ankle is still very fragile and I really could benefit from being able to park directly where I work, instead of biking from a few km away, which is my only other option.

So. Am I the asshole for keeping the mobility permit, even though I can walk now?
