📝 Was I working off the facts or listening to my friend first

At the time this happened (about three years ago) I had just broken up with a girlfriend (we’ll call her c) of about 9 months but was still occasionally hooking up with after a night at the bar. I ended things because I didn’t see things working out with this person, we would on occasion hook up after drinking at the bar a bit as we were both over 21 and adults capable of deciding to do so. After about 3 months, my best friend at the time (we’ll call him P) showed me screenshots of a text that C had sent to P trying to hook up with him after I hadn’t responded to a call. C and P had a history of hooking up before C and I dated. After seeing the messages I stopped hooking up with C. That upset her and I am being told that I was manipulated by P for no longer hooking up with C after P withheld the information from me for about 3 months. My perspective was that shortly after we broke up, C reached out to my best friend for a lonely hookup because I was unavailable, and as soon as I received the information I stopped hooking up with her because I was hurt and didn’t know the full truth, but I have friends who think I am the one who’s in the wrong because I valued P’s opinion to much. Am I the asshole?
