I'm currently taking a medical terminology class that is entirely online, and the professor thought it would be a great idea to assign a group project. The project is due this Thursday, April 10th. Each group was automatically assigned a group leader, but I couldn't figure out how to see who it was. I assumed it wasn't me and waited for someone else to initiate contact in the group.
Last week, I started getting nervous that no one was talking about the project, so I went back to the project's directions and finally figured out how to see who the group leader was. Spoiler alert: it's me. I immediately got to work, posted the start of the assignment in a Google Docs for everyone to edit, and asked the other group members to contribute.
Two group members reached out to thank me for starting the project and ask what they could do next. I gave them instructions. A few days later, they have still not contributed. My other group members have not contacted me at all. At this point, I have completed the entire project by myself rather than wait on others to finish it at the last minute. It's seven pages long and includes APA formatted references. It wasn't exactly hard, but I did a lot of research and spent several hours on it.
Here's where I want to know if I would be the AH. Since I'm the group leader, I'm responsible for submitting the project. If, by the due date, no one else has contributed, I want to email the professor and let him know that I did the project by myself. I don't want the other group members to get credit for work that they didn't lift a finger to complete. Normally, I wouldn't hesitate, but the fact that I failed to realize my leadership position until about a week before the due date is tripping me up. WIBTAH if I throw my group members under the bus for not helping me?
