Okay I need advice here. I recently came into a small amount of money from a back pay at work. Nothing outrageous, and less than 6k. I wanted to take my children and hubby on a vacation after the last 2 years we have had. (Context: both of my parents became ill, dad died about a year into the illness, mom had a liver transplant but still has major ongoing issues, we were the main caretakers, they had divorced when I was a child) I decided we would go to Disneyland. It’s something we have not been to. My mom found out and wants us to take her. I told her I would see what I can do. Looking into things It would double our trip. We would need 2 rental cars, 2 hotel rooms, plus the extra tickets/ dinners/ entertainment while there. We planned to go for 3 days at the park, a total of 5 days of our vacation. She also wants to bring her boyfriend because he has never been. They are both low income and would never be able to afford it. She does not live with me, I see no way she would be able to contribute to this trip.

I’m racking my brain to see if I can do this. I’ll have to make a payment plan or max out my credit cards. We have a regular modest income, and while I’m doing better than my siblings, we still as a family live pay check to paycheck at times. I’m starting to feel like cancelling the trip all together,but I know the kids would be devastated. And I’m not sure I have the guts to tell my mom I can’t take her.

She’s had a hard fight, and made it through a tough time in her life. Physically, she can’t even walk though the grocery store yet, so I don’t understand why she thinks walking around a theme park or riding on rides will be doable. I even offered to have to go down but only do a day at the park, and she said she wants the same days we go.

So, should I tough this thing out and stop being a whiner, be thankful I can take her with me, or, would IBTAH if I tell her this is going to financially wreck me and also I don’t even know how I’m going to do this?
